Manager - Accounts & Finance

Job Description

Role Objective:
To independently manage the Accounts function by ensuring robust accounts payable processes, seamless day-to-day banking and book maintenance, accurate financial reporting, and specialized accounting for mutual fund and stock investment portfolios. The role is designed to ensure strict tax compliance, optimize vendor management, and deliver precise MIS and financial statements to drive strategic financial decisions

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounts Payable & Vendor Management

  • Bill Verification & Processing: Verify vendor bills and process timely payments in strict accordance with agreed commercial terms.

  • Project Accounting: Check project vendor running bills, manage the accurate adjustment of mobilization/running advances, and release payments per contract terms and conditions.

  • Procurement Support: Actively participate in vendor negotiations for purchases and services to ensure cost optimization.

  • Documentation: Timely issuance of Purchase Orders (PO) and Letters of Indent (LOI) to partners and vendors.

Statutory & Contractor Compliance

  • Tax Compliance: Oversee and ensure seamless compliance with GST, TDS, and TCS regulations, including accurate computations, deductions, and timely filings.

  • Labor & Contractor Checks: Thoroughly review and verify contractors' compliance documents, including PF, ESIC, and Workmen Compensation Insurance, to mitigate organizational risk.

Bookkeeping, Banking & Financial Reporting

  • Daily Ledger Maintenance: Oversee the precise accounting of day-to-day expenses within the company's ERP software.

  • Banking Operations: Coordinate directly with banking institutions for routine, day-to-day operational activities and treasury needs.

  • Reconciliations: Prepare and reconcile bank statements on a monthly basis to ensure absolute data integrity.

  • Financial Statement Preparation: Formulate comprehensive Expense Reports, Monthly Project Cost Reports, Income & Expenditure Statements, and the corporate Balance Sheet.

Investment & Portfolio Accounting

  • Portfolio Management: Manage specialized accounting for mutual fund and stock investments.

  • Investment Documentation: Maintain end-to-end knowledge and flawless execution of mutual fund documentation for purchase and sale transactions.

  • Taxation & Capital Gains: Compute accurate capital gains (short-term/long-term) and associated tax liabilities for the investment portfolio.

  • Portfolio Reporting: Generate detailed MIS reports tracking the performance and status of the investment portfolio.

Job Requirements

Professional Experience and Relevant Skills

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of rich experience in accounts payable, taxation, corporate bookkeeping, and investment accounting.

  • Technical Expertise: Proficient in maintaining books of accounts in ERP systems.

Working knowledge of Tally and Asset Vantage is highly beneficial.

Strong expertise in GST, TDS, TCS, and computation of investment capital gains.

  • Skills: Exceptional negotiation skills, sharp analytical abilities for cost reporting, and strong attention to detail.

Academic Qualifications & Certifications

Educational Qualification: Masters in Commerce (M.Com) or Inter CA.

Stakeholder Interaction

Internal

Interaction with: Project Teams, Procurement Department, Senior Management, and Finance Peers.

Nature of Interaction: Collaboration for project cost reporting, bill approvals, advance adjustments, and delivering financial/MIS reports to leadership.

External

Interaction with: Vendors, Contractors, Banking Partners, and Financial Institutions.

Nature of Interaction: Commercial negotiations, resolving billing discrepancies, checking compliance documents, and managing day-to-day banking or investment transactions.
