The Manager, R&D Finance is responsible for driving the financial performance of manufacturing R&D through budgeting, forecasting, inventory management and performance analysis. The role partners with cross-functional teams to optimize costs, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen financial controls.

The successful candidate for this role will be someone who can bring best practices to the role and who is skilled at analysis, innovation and continuous improvement of processes. Key accountabilities will include:

* Financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes * Driving innovation and data-based improvement of key processes * Creating excellent internal and external customer experience * Nurturing a culture of collaboration and high performance * Accurately and candidly assess the performance of the areas they cover / impact * Working closely with business and process leaders / owners to develop and communicate strategies, define improvement initiatives and analyze their needs and successes, and collect feedback / analytics to drive continuous improvement * Creating a culture of financial discipline and operational excellence

A minimum of 5-6 years of experience is required, preferably in an R&D Finance FP&A capacity. The position will be based in the BMS's Hyderabad Location (expected 50% in-person) with minimal travel expected.

Key Responsibilities and Major Duties:

R&D FP&A activities

* Lead month-end and quarter-end close activities for the manufacturing site, including accruals, journal entries, financial validation, and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. * Own the annual budget and periodic projection cycles end-to-end, driving alignment on inputs from the manufacturing site and cross-functional teams * Perform monthly/quarterly manufacturing variance analysis (PPV, usage, efficiency, volume, and spend variances) versus budget, forecast, and prior periods; identify drivers and provide site-level insights. * Executes special projects, ad-hoc analysis to ensure highly effective outcomes * Identify and drive automation opportunities across month-end close, reporting, and forecasting processes to improve efficiency and scalability * Prepare financial models, forecasts, and scenario analyses to support strategic and operational decisions * Review product-level BOM and routing data during budgeting to support accurate standard cost development and site-level cost planning. * Analyze site-level inventory reserves, identify key drivers (excess, obsolete, slow-moving inventory), quantify impacts, and support inventory risk reviews. * Prepare and maintain SOX control documentation and provide support for internal/external audit requests related to manufacturing R&D finance processes.

Process standardization and improvement

* Support the Associate Director, R&D Finance in driving process excellence and standardization across global R&D Finance activities. * Contribute to the development and execution of standardized financial processes, governance frameworks, and reporting solutions. * Define, monitor, and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) to enhance financial and operational performance. * Partner with cross-functional stakeholders and data owners to improve data quality, process consistency, and reporting accuracy. * Identify and implement process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, strengthen financial controls, improve service delivery, and deliver measurable business value. * Build business cases for process improvement initiatives, monitor implementation, and evaluate outcomes against planned benefits. * Support governance activities by ensuring financial policies, internal controls, and operating procedures are documented, maintained, and consistently applied. * Drive the adoption of best practices and foster a culture of continuous improvement across the R&D Finance organization. * Engage with global business partners to gather feedback and continuously enhance financial processes and reporting capabilities. * Deliver high-quality financial reporting and analytical support while meeting agreed service levels and business expectations.

Relationship management and teaming

* Collaborate with Corporate FP&A to ensure adherence to corporate policies and procedures, and adjust processes to reflect changes required * Build and maintain relationships at all levels throughout the organization, specifically with Hyderabad Hub and global Finance leadership * Build an external network to ensure regular exposure to new and best practices, technologies, and process governance standards * Hold self and others to timelines, quality, and accuracy

Risk management

* Anticipate needs, assess and manage business risk taking; escalate issues that may impact management reporting process globally; manage through times of crisis and ambiguity
